Julie joined the lab in 2021 after receiving her B.Sc from the University of Maastricht and M.Sc from Utrecht University. Her PhD focuses on the effect of natural selection in shaping genetic variation using a combination of wet and dry lab techniques. Currently she is working on E. coli with the aim of measuring the correlation between the additive genetic variance in gene expression and the strength of selection as measured through sequence polymorphisms in regulatory regions. When she is not streaking out bacteria or debugging her code, Julie enjoys playing board games and soccer with her friends.
